You want to achieve Wealth and Financial Freedom, right? Let’s assume for now that you have passed the fear, self-doubts and the “this is not possible for ME” phase… And what’s next? Seriously… WHERE DO YOU START? I would suggest that you start with setting your specific VISION for Financial Freedom in your life. Because you need to have Clarity and Direction for your journey, general idea about being wealthy and free is just not enough.
As Lewis Carroll famously stated, “Any road will get you there, if you don’t know where you are going,” So, do you REALLY know where you are going? Do you have a VISION for what you want to achieve – be, do and have? Let’s explore why having a VISION is worth your attention…
WHY Having A Clear VISION For Your Life Is A Good Idea?
Yes, I know… you can get by and even achieve a certain level of success without having a Vision for your dream life… Yet having it can make a huge difference!
In 1979, a study was conducted by the Harvard University where its graduates were asked a question: “Have you set clear, written goals for your future and made plans to accomplish them?” In other words, they were asked whether they have written down a vision for their life and what they want to achieve.
Only 3 % of the graduates had written goals and clear plans for accomplishing their vision. 84 % had no specific vision whatsoever and 13% had somewhat a vision for their future but not in writing.
When 10 years later these graduates were interviewed again, the 13 %, with a vision but not in writing, were making twice as much as the 84% in the “no vision” group. The 3% who had a clear written vision for their life were earning 10 times more than the 84% of those who had no vision at all! Considering the average earning of the Harvard graduates, the latter group’s earnings were between $1 million and $2 million….
Do I have your attention now?
Are you willing and ready to learn the techniques for defining YOUR VISION?
Here are some suggestions for you to consider:
The Mirror Technique
From spiritual standpoint, this technique leverages the power of your subconscious mind that can be influenced by your conscious intentions and carry out these intentions into reality by energizing objects of your attention.
From the neuroscience stand point, it happens because of the mirror-neurons in our brains. The neurons create a powerful psychological response in our bodies that often leads to shift in our thoughts, beliefs and actions…. Harvesting the power of mirror-neurons allows you to “transfer” the power of successful people’s emotions, expressions and actions into your mind. It’s not some woo-woo, new age bogus – it’s what your mind is programmed to do.
Many great orators, statesmen and actors have used the mirror technique. It has been noted that Winston Churchill and Woodrow Wilson employed this method to make some most important speeches.
Here how you can apply the Mirror technique in your life for assembling your Vision:
- Stand in front of a mirror that is large enough for you to see your face and your torso. Stand completely straight with your shoulders back and head up. Get yourself centered by taking three deep breaths. Next, look into your eyes and speak out loud, with conviction and excitement, to yourself about what you want to BE, DO or HAVE. I mean, give yourself the biggest pep talk you can imagine…. Try to do it in the morning and at night.
For example, you can say to yourself while looking at yourself in a mirror:
“I am damn amazing! I am confident, clear and decisive. I emit kindness, compassion and assertiveness. I take great care of myself – eat healthy, rest and exercise daily. Everything comes to me easily – money, great people and wonderful work opportunities. I am a runaway financial success and make $15,000 a month in passive income. My business is growing very well, I enjoy running it and I have thousands of my ideal clients waiting to receive my services. I am so enjoying my life and my success!”
- The Mirror technique also works when you feel energized and excited about something, when you feel emotional connection to something that you really like about other people and their lives and would like to be, do or have the same. Have you ever felt something like that? Well, these FEELINGs create energetic charge in your brain as you subconsciously imagine yourself living this reality.
The Vision Board
Create a Vision Board for your Dream Life. Use Pinterest or the old fashioned paper to create a collage of images that reflect what you want to BE, Do and Have in your life. Place it in front of your bed or a desk. Look at this Vision board as many times a day as possible, enjoy the warm feeling that these images evoke in you. Think BIG, pay attention to what “FEELS GOOD”, let go of others’ (family, friends, etc.) expectations for your life.
You Are What You Feed to Your Mind
If you eat greasy fast food daily, what will happen to your body? The same happens with your mind – you get the results based on what you feed to it!
That is why it is important what you hear daily, who you listen to, what you write, read and watch, what environment you have around you, what you say to yourself when no one it watching….
Writing onto your journal is another powerful tool for consciously directing your brain to focus and express your dreams and desires., especially writing it in the present tense, as if you already are, do and have “it”. You can imagine that you are interviewed by the Forbes magazine for an article about your amazing and successful life journey. What would you say, what would you share about your achievements?
You likely know the old saying “you are known by the company you keep”? By watching and listening to successful people, coaches, motivational speakers and personal development leaders, you feed your mind with inspiring, encouraging and positive energy.
Attending uplifting and action-inspiring webinars and teleseminars, watching inspirational messages by Tony Robbins or Abraham-Hicks on youtube will do wonders to your brain! Why? Because every time you watch and listen to them, you absorb their knowledge and beliefs as your mirror-neurons mimic their confidence, clarity, successful thoughts and inspired-action attitude.
The effect of these experiences on you? You start believing that you can have your dream life. You start believing that you are capable, that you are enough and have what it takes to succeed at LIVING YOUR VISION! These experiences are a great way to fire up your mirror-neurons!
Next week we’ll explore powerful strategies for setting your goals.
